further up date to include 2/6 games

Wood's Cross took care of Roy @roy to pull into tie with Bountiful in the loss column.

Both teams have lost two games.Mountain Crest and SKY VIEW have 3 losses each so playoff seeding is still very much undecided.

AT ROY Zack Banford scored a season high 6 points as Woods cross spread out their offense.Zack's rebounds were a key and he held his ground on a half court pick on Roy's big man and made both free throws to help WX pull ahead in the 4th quarter. Jake west led the defensive charge holding Roy's top scorer to 3 points while slicing up roys defense with deadly accurate passes that left them off balance and forced to foul. Jake's steal and right on the money pass to streaking Zack Banford for an easy lay up was a key play as Roy was threatening to take over the lead. This time Wood's Cross made their free throws (21-25)and pulled out a game that was closer than the final score looks.WX is the only remaining region 5 team undefeated at home and hopes to avenge earlier away losses to Bountiful and a double overtime heart breaker to Mountain Crest in the coming few weeks.David Bitner and Tyler Hall played good defense and scored 11 and 10 points. Tyler Stahle was held to 13 points-but still maintained his position as top scorer in 4a -mostly on free throws.OVER all a great defensive effort and the best spread on scoring yet.Big men Bankowski and Howe played super defense and made all their free throws to contribute 10 and 2 points to the effort. Mark Evan was score less but helped keep ROY's bigs in check as all our big men got in foul troubles defending them. It's great to have THREE big men who can defend, score and make their free throws! GO WILDCATS!

Tyler Stahle went off for 29 points again to maintain his top scoring average in state 4a schools. Jake west was as usual, a super pest on defense getting key steals on both ends of the court. He also had some nice jump shots and a spinning high leaping reverse layup in traffic to get WX on the score board early on.

More importantly EVERYONE played smart ball-with much better passing than in previous games and everyone hustled on defense to totally frustrate the sky view scorers-who just a few days ago beat Bountiful AT Bountiful.

Zack Bamford made the most of his few varsity minutes PLAYING SUPER DEFENSE and helping run the offensive play as well. Zack will be needed as games get more intense towards the second half of the season and starters get in foul trouble or need a rest. Tyler HALL had another great night on the boards as did WX three big men playing tag team center.I really think the team is coming together and can compete with the top teams if they stay focused on TEAM play and don't let internal friction bring them down like last year's varsity team sufferred in the second half.

The good part about our losses is that we learned from them and NOW get to replay both BOUNTIFUL and MC at HOME in the next few weeks.

WX boys varsity is UNDEFEATED at Woods Cross THIS WHOLE YEAR so let's meet the next 6 games both home and away with continued improvement on free throws and TEAM play guys!

GO WILDCATS!! BEAT ROY!!!
