KAYSVILLE — For five-and-a-half innings of Tuesday’s opening round baseball game between the Davis Darts and Brighton Bengals, the game had all the makings of a low-scoring outcome.

But in the final three half innings, the pitching duel turned into a run scoring feast, with the Darts coming out on top after scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 5-4.

Davis’ three-run sixth inning started with back-to-back singles by Carson Beyer and Corby Fuhriman. Beyer scored two batters later when Zac Fuller reached base on an error. Jace Olsen broke the game open with a two-out, two-RBI single to center for the three-run lead.

Brighton’s near comeback effort followed in the top half when they scored four runs to take the lead. Colby Batt was the first to cross the plate after Fuller allowed a bases loaded walk. Alec Olsen gave Brighton the lead after hitting a double to left field, scoring Logan McGregor, R.J. Burrola and Hayden Benson.
