SALT LAKE CITY — After the first day of the state 4A tennis playoffs, the Bountiful Braves and Woods Cross Wildcats were tied with a few players reaching the semi-final rounds.

When the final two rounds were completed last Saturday, the Braves and Wildcats still ended up tied, finishing seventh overall with four points each to round out the two-day competition.

The Braves had a trio of players reach the semi-finals, headed by third singles player Michael Duke. Duke reached Saturday’s semi-final round by taking down Helaman Johnston 6-2, 6-3, then defeated Keegan Call in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Duke’s run to the finals ended when he lost to Timpview’s Paul Monson, who won the individual title in third singles, in straight sets.
