CENTERVILLE — There’s more to do on local trails than just hiking.

The city’s trails committee is looking to show residents that firsthand with its upcoming mountain bike ride, set for June 5 starting at 7 p.m. The ride, which is a first for the committee, will help show residents of all ages how much fun Parrish Canyon can be from on top of a bike.

“We wanted to highlight some of the different things people can do on the mountain trails,” said Denise Cox, a member of the Centerville Trails Committee. “It’s kind of different.”

Riders are required to bring helmets and their own water for the ride, which will be open to those of all skill levels. Depending on who attends the ride, they will either follow an easier trail or split into basic and more advanced groups (or, if everyone is ready for it, simply follow the more advanced trail).
