1921-2012



Edith Gerda Birth Rohloff, Walter’s Herzele, the love of his life, his eternal companion and the loving mother of their children and grandchildren was born in Schneidemuhl, Germany, February 18, 1921 and passed away June 3, 2012 in Bountiful, Utah.

She was the third child from 11 children of her parents Friedrich and Emma Birth. She married her best friend Walter Rohloff, February 10, 1949 solemnized at the Bern Switzerland Temple in 1956.

She loved her Savior Jesus Christ and served him faithfully in serving her neighbors and in many positions in the Church, including a full time mission during World War II in Berlin and later 1990 –1992 with her husband in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany.

She enjoyed her work as a technician at the Cancer Research Center at the U of U and after she had raised her two children she worked part-time for Siegfried’s Delicatessen.

She is survived by her husband Walter; son Mario Rohloff; daughter Diana Rohloff (Clark)Stegner; six grandchildren Brock, Riley, Taulia and Braden Rohloff, Cassie and Shea Stegner; siblings Christa Koenig, Werner Birth and Brigitte (Jerry) Foster. Preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and four sisters. The family is grateful to Utah Hospice specialist for their outstanding love and care to Edith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Val Verda 5th Ward Chapel, 2633 S. 50 W. Bountiful, Utah. Friends may visit family Thurs. June 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Fri. from 1-1:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
