Whether it’s urging officials to install or maintain curb cuts for those with Americans With Disabilities, working with the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind or lobbying legislators, McCormick has worked to better the lives of the disabled in Utah.
These days, McCormick is finding it harder to get around as her multiple sclerosis has progressed.
“I can’t walk a straight line, even with a walker,” McCormick said. “By 3 p.m., I am exhausted from using the walker all day, and struggle even more to get around.”
McCormick received a new power wheelchair last weekend from the nonprofit organization Ability Found and is waiting to have ramps installed from her back door and patio door, so she can get out of her house without help.
