KAYSVILLE – Artists and botanists look at trees in entirely different ways.

Davis County residents, however, have the chance to explore both at the Utah Botanical Center’s upcoming Explore the Garden Family Night, which focuses on the trees in the center’s Varga Arboretum. The event, set for June 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., will include both a guided tour by a USU Extension Specialist and tree-related art activities for all ages and skill levels.

“We want to give people the chance to enjoy parts of the garden they may have never been to before,” said Jayne Mulford, the Utah House Coordinator at the USU Botanical Center. “We just want people to have fun, learn, and explore the world around them.”

The June event is part of the botanical center’s family night series, which was originally only a spring and fall event but expanded this year. Though there is a small fee for the arboretum tour – $3 per person, or $10 for a family of up to six people – the money is only to cover the increased overhead of the expanded events.

“We’re asking for just a little cost to cover expenses,” said Mulford, mentioning the presence of the extension specialist and the treat that will be included.
