With either or both teams winning a state title in consecutive years, the boys’ and girls’ cross country running teams have been placed on the map of powerhouses in the high school running world.
At the Wasatch Back leg of the 2012 Ragnar Relay event, which this year ran from Logan to Park City and did not include a trek through Davis County, both cross country teams finished in the top 20 overall. The boys’ team, which placed second in the state title race this year, placed third at the relay event for the second consecutive year. The girls’ team, currently the defending state champions in 5A, placed 19th overall.
Corbin Talley, coach, said that both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished in first place in the high school division for the seventh year in a row.
“The girls ran strong and consistent all the way through the relay,” said Talley. “There were only 10 all-male teams who were able to run faster than our girls. I was super proud of the girls for their positive attitudes, their team work, and their toughness.”
