BOUNTIFUL— There was a time when Main streets across America were walkable communities where people could walk, stop for an ice cream sundae, and greet neighbors on the street.

When Bountiful’s Main Street renovation is complete, that’s the kind of atmosphere Brian Knowlton envisions for Bountiful.

Knowlton, owner of Knowlton General contractors, spoke to members of the Bountiful Breakfast Exchange Club recently about the changes coming to the city.

“We have the potential for the best Main Street in the state short of Park City,” the builder said.

Th changes actually began in 2000, when the Lakewood Furniture store was revamped into an area where people can live and work.

People being able to live and work in the same area is integral to making the concept of Bountiful’s new Main Street work.

Knowlton said the idea of people living, working and shopping in the same area in nothing new, not even in Bountiful.
