The east end of Kaysville’s Center Street dead-ends at a grassy hill rather than connecting with the west end of Fruit Heights’ Country Road.
It’s a connection that would allow better access for fire and ambulance service, according to Brandon Green, city manager of Fruit Heights. Fruit Heights contracts with Kaysville for those services.
But a study presented to the Kaysville City Council July 17 by City Manager John Thacker indicated the connection would bring 1,024 cars per day to the road. After some discussion, the council voted to begin the process of vacating the 150-foot strip.
“(Fruight Heights) would love to have them connected,” said Green on July 18. “We’ve been trying to work with Kaysville in finding a way that we can make that happen.”
He said the road could be used by Kaysville residents going to Highway 89 as well as Fruit Heights residents going to shop in Kaysville, and should not just be a spot for personal RV parking.
