SALT LAKE CITY — Nominations for the 14th annual Utah Work/Life Awards are due Aug. 31.

Awards are given to businesses based on four criteria having to do with employee and workplace satisfaction: flexibility and benefits, whole life, workplace excellence and business and personal success.

Applicants are evaluated based on employee surveys and information provided by the businesses themselves. Interested businesses are advised to start the application process as soon as possible, said Lynette Rasmussen, Work & Family Life director with the Utah Department of Workforce Services.

Last year South Davis Community Hospital (SDCH) and Futura Industries, both based in Davis County, were honored.

Awards will be presented Oct. 18 at the State Capitol in the categories of micro businesses, with 50 or fewer employees, medium with between 50 and 500, and large, with more than 500.

Award applications are online and have two parts, a company profile and employee questionnaires.

“People can nominate themselves or a company they are especially proud of,” Rasmussen said.

More information is available at jobs.utah.gov.

“The mission of DWS is to support people in their search for employment, to have great places for people to work that not only meet a family’s need to provide, but also meet a company’s need to have a return on their investment, and help the two find each other,” she said.
