South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful and Futura Industries in Clearfield received the statewide honor.
As noted in an accompanying story, the Utah Work Life 2012 Award program seeks to recognize and promote examples of such businesses.
Intended as more than an award, Work/Life program director Lynette Rasmussen said it’s also a way to alert job seekers to such firms and to the fact they provide “life sustaining” positions and employee/family friendly benefits.
Both Davis County 2011 honorees have received many awards in the past, including for community service and involvement.
Some of the aspects employees liked about SDJH are:
• The hospital operates 24/7 so employees have a holiday rotation that changes from year to year to ensure flexibility in time off.
• The company offers personal loans for employees.
• The hospital matches 50 percent on employees’ 401(K) contributions and pays for life insurance and offers supplemental life, short and long-term disability insurance.
