LAYTON – The course of true love never did run smooth.

Though Shakespeare said that about the romances in his “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” the words are even more applicable to his most famous tragedy, “Romeo and Juliet.” The tale of two star-crossed lovers is coming to the Ed Kenley Amphitheater Aug. 22-27 as part of the Davis Arts Council’s annual “Shakespeare in the Park.”

“It’s arguably Shakespeare’s best known play,” said DAC Executive Director Kirt Bateman. “We wanted to make sure not to get into the lesser plays too quickly, but we also wanted to go opposite of the broad comedy we did last year.”
