ation Park is adding a little rhythm to its Friday nights.
The open-air shopping center will kick off its first-ever free concert series, Rock the Park, with a performance by the Party Crashers on Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. The concerts, which will be held near the fountain in front of the Cinemark movie theater, will run weekly through Sept. 14.
“Station Park is a gathering place for the community,” said Station Park General Manager Debby LaMotte. “We really want to encourage that.”
Party Crashers, the series’ opening band, focuses mostly on modern hits. The group includes Alex Rowe, who has performed with “American Idol” winner David Archuleta.
“They have tremendous talent, boundless energy and unmistakable chemistry,” said LaMotte. “We know the whole family will enjoy them.”
The rest of the series focuses on a mix of different styles, ranging from jazz, swing and blues to rock, country and a capella.
“We’re using this year to feel people out and see what type of music they like,” she said. “Our whole lineup is great.”
