FARMINGTON С Hopefully everyone got the memo.
Davis School District schools running on a traditional calendar do not begin classes until Tuesday, Sept. 4, immediately following the Labor Day weekend.
This is a change from the original calendar, which had school starting a few days earlier.
School board members voted for the change in June at the recommendation of district leaders.
The change takes advantage of an option offered by the Utah State Office of Education that allows the school year to be shortened by two instructional days. The extra days will allow teachers to receive additional training on new core curriculum standards.
The traditional school year will end on Friday, June 7, 2013, and graduations will take place on June 6 and 7.
