BOUNTIFUL - Friday night was a big success for Davis, Bountiful and Woods Cross high school football teams.

Viewmont, however, still has many questions to answer.

The Darts, Braves and Wildcats each picked up wins Friday night over Viewmont, Mountain View and Bonneville, respectively, All three local teams won with big margins.

Davis and Viewmont entered last Friday’s game, having suffered losses over Brighton and Woods Cross, respectively, and were hoping to get their first win in the non-region rivalry game.

With Gage Cook’s 223 yards rushing and 98 yards passing, the Darts’ senior quarterback accounted for four of the five Davis touchdowns in the 35-7 win over Viewmont. Three of Cook’s touchdowns came in the first half to help the Darts build a 21-7 halftime lead. 

When the Vikings had a difficult time scoring after its initial touchdown, Cook added a passing touchdown while Ashton Reinhold scored Davis’ fourth rushing touchdown in the second half to put the game away.

In two games, Cook has more yards rushing than passing (254 to 163) and more rushing touchdowns than passing (four to one).

Bountiful picked up its second win of the season Friday night with a 35-7 victory over the Bruins, led by Jakob Hunt’s 122 rushing yards and four touchdowns. All of the Braves’ points came in the first half; the defense held the Bruins out of the end zone until the third quarter.

Hunt’s 122-yard effort came on 13 carries while Leka Nepote and K.C. Fife each had 10 carries for a combined 77 yards. Jordan Hayes, who stepped in last week at quarterback after Trevor Lloyd was injured in a win over Lone Peak, had a solid game by completing seven-of-nine passes for 133 yards.

Jeremy Rock led the team in tackles that game with seven, and Junior Hamilton and Rylee Gautavai each had half a sack with 10 combined tackles.

Woods Cross also picked up its second win with a dominating 36-0 shutout victory over the Bonneville Lakers last Friday. 

The shutout was the first for the Wildcats and was led by Junior Vailolo’s six tackles. Deion Saamulu had five tackles and a sack for a safety that turned into Woods Cross’ first two points in the game. Jake Brown also added points for the Woods Cross defense, returning an interception 50 yards for a score.

Offensively, the duo of Skyler Farnes and Sean Barton accounted for all five touchdowns for the Wildcats. Farnes finished the game with 158 passing yards with four touchdowns and Barton added 155 yards rushing on 12 carries with 42 receiving yards and a touchdown.
