KAYSVILLE — The Davis Lady Darts girls’ soccer team continued its winning streak Tuesday, beating the Weber Warriors 4-1 behind two goals from Melanie Ostler.

Both of Ostler’s goals were scored in the second half and in similar fashion. Her first goal was set up after she was fouled from outside the scoring area and received a free kick. From about 20 yards away, Ostler kicked in the goal past Weber’s wall and beyond the diving goal keeper to give the Darts a 2-0 lead.

Ostler’s second point, which occurred in the 51st minute, also followed a penalty from outside the box, and she received another free kick from almost the same position as her first free kick. Initially, the ball went past the Weber wall and was nearly saved by the goal keeper. The referee stopped play, however, ruling the ball had gone over the scoring line for Ostler’s second goal.

After Weber’s Skylee Schenck scored in the 57th minute to make the score 3-1, McKayla Carter knocked in a goal in the 63rd minute that re-established the three-goal lead.

Carter’s goal was set up by a cross pass from a teammate, then fired past a host of defenders and the goalkeeper for the final score in the game.

Madi Garlock also scored for the Darts in the first half, firing a shot through the legs of a Weber player and beyond a diving goal keeper that made the score 1-0 in the 34th minute.

Davis’ win over the Warriors was the team’s seventh straight victory this season. The Darts have not lost a game to the Warriors since 2006, for a total of 11 wins.

The Darts’ next game will be against Fremont on the road on Thursday afternoon.
