Davis had to come from behind against a pesky Layton attack, which scored a first half goal to take a 1-0 lead. Shelby Green, a senior for the Lady Lancers, fought through a couple defenders and past Davis’ goal keeper for the initial goal of the game.
The Dunn sisters of helped give the Darts the lead temporarily, accounting for both of the Darts second half goals. The game-tying goal was scored by Ireland Dunn, who dribbled the ball through three Lancer defenders and slotted in the goal to tie the game at 1-1.
Five minutes later, Ireland Dunn gave Chelsea Dunn the ball just above the box, and Chelsea kicked in the game-leading goal just past Lancers’ goal keeper for the go-ahead goal.
With only one minute remaining in the game, Layton freshman Haley Elmore scored on a tight shot that pushed the game into overtime.
Not long into the first overtime period, however, Davis was able to get away with a victory after Kennedy Laws found Garlock for the game-winner. Laws’ cross pass to Garlock was perfectly executed, finding the head of Garlock as she guided the ball to the back of the net for the game-winner.
The win for Davis was its ninth straight overall and fourth in Region 1 play. They have also played in its second consecutive overtime game, beating Fremont 2-1 in double overtime last Thursday.
The Darts will take on the Northridge Knights Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
