CENTERVILLE — A free shredding event is set for Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Centerville Parrish Lane branch of America First Credit Union.

In addition, anyone can enter the credit union’s Endless Summer of Giveaways Sweepstakes. The prize is a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport, which will be on display with iPad kiosks for people to use to fill our their entries.

The shredding events are offered each quarter.

It’s recommended that everyone prepare a bag or box labeled “shred” to better protect personal identity.

Account statements, pay stubs, outdated identification, old tax returns and credit card offers are all items that are ideal for shredding.

Information available in these items, or applications included with this kind of paperwork, are useful for identify theft.
