After a wild weekend with more twists and turns than a mountain pass road, the football programs for Utah, Utah State and BYU look to build on what was a stunning weekend for all three schools.

Whether they build or regress from what transpired will be based on how they react to last weekend.

Utah and BYU played a memorable classic that saw the Utah fans almost ruin the game for the Utes. Utah State went into Madison and was a missed field goal away from upsetting the Wisconsin Badgers. Now, all three schools will need to move on from the crazy events and look towards the upcoming weekend.

Utah, the fortunate victor from last week, will open their PAC-12 season against Arizona State Saturday. Their victory over BYU helped redeem them from their loss at Utah State, giving them positive momentum heading into the weekend. Preseason polls placed Arizona State and Utah behind USC in the PAC-12 South.

While the state of Utah places emphasis on the Holy War rivalry, the matchup the Utes have with the Sun Devils carries more importance to the Utes goal of a postseason berth. The winner will have the early upper hand to challenge the Trojans for the chance to play in the conference championship game. The Utes will face USC on Oct. 4.
