Long-time Bountiful resident, LaVance P. Nelson, celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday, October 1. His family gathered on Sunday, September 30 at LaVance’s home to honor him. LaVance married Norma Arbuckle in 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. LaVance and Norma were blessed and loved by five children and their spouses: Carolyn Hyatt (Doug); Paul (Carolynn); Janet Marston, deceased, (Mike); Diane Barrus, deceased (Lee); and Sue Kiisel (Ty). After 50 wonderful years together, Norma passed away in 1992. While serving in the Bountiful LDS Temple, LaVance met his second Norma. He married Norma Buhler Preece in 1995. Together they continue to love and serve each other and their combined families. LaVance worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. A skilled craftsman, he built many homes in the Bountiful area, continuing to build homes after his retirement from the post office. LaVance still enjoys gardening. His beautiful yard has been a “Bountiful City Beautiful Homes and Gardens” award winner. He loves spending time with his children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. None of us would be where we are today without him and his selfless love for us. Happy Birthday to our wonderful father and grandfather.
