CENTERVILLE — A man died in a multi-vehicle crash in Centerville Thursday morning, causing major delays in northbound travel near milepost 321on I-15.
The accident was one of two that occurred about 6 a.m. on the freeway. The second crash happened near Park Lane in Farmington, slowing southbound traffic significantly.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said troopers are still investigating the Centerville accident, but it appears a box truck hit a passenger car, which then slammed into the back of a semi-truck. It sandwiched the passenger car and killing its driver.
“We don’t know yet how fast the semi was going when the accident occurred, Johnson said.
The name of the driver has not been released and Johnson had no further information on him. The name of the man who died also has not been released.
Several lanes of traffic were blocked during the investigation. They reopened about 10 a.m. Meanwhile, traffic was brought to a virtual standstill.
