FARMINGTON — A hapless deer fell into a storm drain manhole in Davis County, and Davis County Sheriff’s deputies came to the rescue, saving the animal’s life.

The dramatic rescue was caught on tape, and the department has posted on their Facebook page an on youtube.com.

After being pulled from the manhole, the deer was released into the safety of the woods.

One sergeant filmed as a canyon patrol deputy used a climbing rope to lasso the deer. He was able to form a pseudo-leash and throw it around the deer’s neck, then pull the deer up out of the hole.

The deer  appeared unharmed, according to the department.
