FARMINGTON — Absentee voters will be allowed to vote electronically for the first time in the 2012 state, local and federal elections.

This option was made possible by action of the Utah legislature during the 2012 session, said Davis County Auditor Steve Rawlings.

To vote electronically, absentee citizens would have to sign an affidavit and give up their right to voting privacy, because the ballots will be transmitted within emails that are subject to public records laws.

The deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 6 election is Oct. 22. Early voting begins Oct. 23 and ends Nov. 2.

Register to vote online or find information about what will be on your ballot by visiting co.davis.ut.us/clerkauditor/elections.
