FARMINGTON — A staff sergeant stationed at Hill AFB was booked into the Davis County Jail last week following an investigation by the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Matthew Kris Harrelson, 35, is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Officers allegedly found child ponography on a CD and two laptop computers he owned. Court documents indicate that one of the laptops contained 18 child pornography videos.

According to a probable cause statement, officers began investigating Harrelson late last year after finding an IP address that was downloading and sharing files with child pornography titles.

When ICAC officers learned Harrelson was in active service on base, they contacted military authorities.

Harrelson told officers that he had a friend who had been arrested for downloading child pornography and that his wireless router had been unsecured for some time, according to the filing. Harrelson allegedly told authorities he had been downloading only songs and movies.
