Whether you’re looking for tricks or treats, there’s a little something for everyone this Halloween season. 

Cities and organizations all across the county will be celebrating with a variety of events, ranging from spooky concerts to pumpkin throwing. Most events are free, though some charge for specific activities. All are open to the public, leaving residents free to mix and match their favorite combination of holiday fun. 

 

North Salt Lake

The Davis County Symphony is kicking things off with its free annual Halloween concert, set for Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at North Salt Lake City Hall (10 East Center Street). The concert will feature music from spooky movies such as “The Addams Family” and “Beetlejuice,” along with favorites from shows such as “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Indoor trick-or-treating will be held after the performance. 

 

Bountiful 

Bountiful will hold their annual Pumpkin Patch event on Oct. 27 from 4-7 p.m. at North Canyon Park (400 East and Bountiful Boulevard). Activities include a bounce house, fish pond, spooky storyteller, food and more. A spook trail for younger kids will be held from 6-6:30 p.m., and a version for older kids will be held from 6:30-7 p.m. Tickets are 25 cents each, and some events cost more than one ticket. All food costs $1.

 

South Davis Recreation Center

The SDRC is diving into the holiday with their upcoming Spook-tacular, set for Oct. 27 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to come in costume for a night of activities ranging from a canoe ride through a haunted swamp to a haunted locker room. 

Treats and crafts will also be available, as well as a trick-or-treat alley. Admission is free, but tickets used at the various activities are 50 cents each. The rec center is located at 550 North 200 West in Bountiful.

 

Centerville

The Centerville City Youth Council is going orange this Halloween with its upcoming Pumpkin Walk, set for Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Founders Park (300 North 100 East). Those contributing carved pumpkins should bring them to the park by 5:30 p.m., where they can be placed and lit. 

The walk will be open to everyone from 7-8:30 p.m., where residents can enjoy free hot cider and donuts as well as their neighbors’ creations. Prizes for the best pumpkin in a variety of categories will be awarded at 8:30 p.m.

 

Farmington

Miss Farmington is hosting the city’s annual Halloween party, set for Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Community Arts Center (160 S. Main Street). The evening will include games, candy and trick-or-treat safety tips, as well as a display of carved pumpkins by Farmington resident Ken Klinker. The display includes a combination of real and foam pumpkins featuring zombies, cartoon characters, sports mascots and more. 

 

USU Botanical Center

The UBC is celebrating pumpkins in all their glory with the upcoming Pumpkinpalooza, set for Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. in the botanical center’s arboretum. The UBC and 4-H staff have combined for a free evening that includes face painting, a haunted forest that’s safe for kids, a spider museum and a demonstration that shows how to make glow-in-the-dark slime. 

New this year is Pumpkin Chunkin, which costs $2 a throw and lets guests target scarecrows representing the four major state universities. The Pumpkin Patch Hay Ride also costs $2, but the price includes picking out your favorite pumpkin to take home. The UBC is located at 920 South 50 West in Kaysville, with parking available at 875 S. 50 W.

 

Layton

The city is hosting a free Halloween party Oct. 26 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Central Davis Jr. High gym, located at 663 N. Church Street. The evening will include carnival-style games, a cake walk, a costume contest, music and treats. Costumes are encouraged, but participants are asked not to wear masks.

 

Syracuse

When this city celebrates Halloween, organizers can’t fit it all into a single day. Syracuse’s free Pumpkin Walk Festival starts off on Oct. 25 and 26 at Centennial Park, offering a mix of food and craft vendors from 7-10 p.m. On Oct. 27 the time switches to noon-5 p.m. and they add in a bounce house, pumpkin bowling, human hamster balls, a pumpkin throwing contest, and plenty of activities for kids. Centennial Park is located at 1800 S. 2000 West in Syracuse. 

 

Clearfield

Anyone wanting to celebrate Halloween with a splash can visit Clearfield City’s Boo-nanza, coming Oct. 27 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Clearfield Aquatic Center.The theme for this year’s event is “Frightfully Fractured Fairy Tales,” and activities include canoe and pedal boat rides, a floating pumpkin patch, a haunted tunnel, train rides, cupcake decorating and more. A costume walk, set for 5:30 p.m., kicks off the evening. Admission is free, but activity tickets cost 50 cents each.
