Frances Gene (Burnside) Thompson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully on Oct. 27, 2012, surrounded by love. She was born Nov. 10, 1925 in Small, ID, to John Henry Burnside and Frances Bernice (Leonardson) Burnside. She attended Roberts High School and later earned her Associates in business from Ricks College.

She married the love of her life, Richard Ward Thompson, on June 8, 1948. Fran was kind to all and it earned her many friendships, but her greatest joy was in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted, selfless, and always available to listen and to provide comforting words. She celebrated her family's triumphs and empathized with their heartaches. She was the wind beneath her family's wings; her family is the legacy of her love. She will be dearly missed.

Fran is survived by her sweetheart, Richard, four children: R. Dean (Geanne) Thompson, Sharon Gabriel, Kay Lynne (Chris) Bowers, and DeAnne (John) Gabel, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, F. Otto Robbins ("Pop"), and brothers, Virgil Burnside, Theodore ("Ted") Burnside, and Jack Burnside Jr.

Services to be at 11, Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Russon Brother's Mortuary (295 N. Main, in Bountiful). Interment to follow immediately at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, UT.
