I am a nothing! Just a big zero! I say this for two reasons: First, I am a Mormon Democrat who believes in Obama and plans to vote for him. But my vote will not make any difference because Utah is a Republican state. So it is what it is. Second, I do not live in one of the seven swing states. Every conversation and news report I listen to on TV or read about in the paper says this election is all about the swing states. Whoever wins the most swing states will win this election. If this is true, then why should I and the other 43 states even bother to go to the polls to vote? Why don’t we just stay home?
It really offends and hurts me to know that my vote or even the votes of my state will not affect the outcome of this election. Somehow, it doesn’t seem fair to me that seven states will decide who will me our next president. This makes me feel very unimportant.
Yes, I will go to the polls in November and vote. I”ll go because it is part of my freedom and because I have a duty to my country. But I will not vote Democrat or Republican. I will vote for the men and women who I feel will do a good job for me and my country. I have no doubts that Gov. Romney would be a great president. He does care about the American people. Will he turn this country around in four years? That is highly doubtful. When Pres. Obama took office four years ago, this country was in a big mess. This mess was caused mostly by the Republican party. Did he turn it around in four years? No. But he has done some great things despite all the no votes and negative feelings shelled out by the House Republicans. They have crippled this country. They have done little to nothing to help this country. Shame on them.
I strongly feel that Obama has had a very tough four years and should be given four more years in office so that he can complete the goals he has aspired to for this nation and this people.
