SALT LAKE CITY — Even though winter’s coming, there’s still one last chance to enjoy flowers in full bloom.
The Utah Orchid Society, a group with several Davis County members, is holding its annual fall orchid show Nov. 2-3 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Red Butte Gardens Orangerie in Salt Lake.
“The show makes for a good morning or afternoon outing,” said Bruce Hugo, a board member for the society. “It is also a great opportunity for some unique photographs.”
The show will feature the best orchids from a variety of local growers. Many of them will be for sale. Utah Orchid Society members will also be on hand to answer guests’ questions about orchid growing.
People looking for a more intense discussion can attend an open forum discussing the culture and care of orchids on Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Photographs are encouraged, though society members prefer that guests ask the growers before taking pictures of their plants.
Though the show itself is free, admission requires paying the entrance fee to Red Butte Gardens. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children 17 and younger. Children under the age of three are free.
