BOUNTIFUL – The Bountiful/Davis Art Center is saying goodbye to Bountiful with a little holiday spirit.
BDAC’s annual Holiday Art Show and Sale, opening Nov. 16 with a reception from 7-9 p.m., is the last show that will be held in the center’s current Main Street building.
In January 2013, the center will take temporary residence in the county courthouse in Farmington until the new Bountiful City Hall is constructed. The art center will then make its new home in the current city hall building, which will be remodeled.
“We’re encouraring people to stay with us during the move and our temporary location,” said BDAC Executive Director Emma Dugal. “Eventually, we’ll be in our permanent home in Bountiful.”
The opening reception will include hors devours and musical entertainment, as well as appearances by several artists who are in the show.
The Holiday Art Show, which BDAC has held since 1974, has long been a major fundraising event for the art center and local artists. Though this year’s exhibit won’t include the traditional wooden tree with handmade ornaments by local artists, the art center still made sure to celebrate the season.
“We made trees out of boxes in honor of the move,” said Dugal with a laugh. “We’ve never done anything like it before.”
The art center is also launching its membership drive, the money from which goes to sustain BDAC programs such as Family Art Night. The cost is $10 for the year, and those who are interested should call 801-292-0367.
“We’re encouraging the artists to become members,” said Dugal. “We’re hoping to pick up a few new friends.”
