OGDEN — For the 35th year, the Ogden LDS Institute will present its Christmas Spectacular, a show Centerville resident Jessica Love believes is a fun way to kick off the holiday season. “I Heard the Bells...A Christmas Hope,” is the theme of this year’s show, which tells the story of how a young father, stressed by financial difficulties and family finds the holiday spirit, Love said. “I think people can really relate to it,” she said. The show will be performed on Friday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts, Austad Auditorium at Weber State University. Suggested donations are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens over 60, $3 for children ages 7 to 17 and 15 for a family. The matinee will be $12 for the family ticket. Special tickets are also available for those with current military ID: Adult/Senior $3, children, $2 and a family ticket $10. The spectacular will highlight traditional holiday favorites like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “The First Noel, “ “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and “Joy to the World.” Love has been president of the Chorales since April, and has been a member for two years. She enjoys the shows the institute produces several times a year, especially the Christmas show. “It’s always such a fun family event. It’s something everyone should see,” she said. The spectacular features nearly 225 young adults from the institute Chorale, Chorales and Folk Dancers. About a third of them hail from Davis County. Several of them are featured prominently in the production.
