Their love story began in the the fall of 1948 as a young Cornell Haacke and Joyce Nelson met in a Red Cross assembly at Davis High School where she was the nurse and him the injured patient. He was on the championship basketball team and graduated in 1949. He took her to a Gold & Green Ball on their first date and soon they were inseperable. Cornell left for adventures with the United States Air Force, serving in New Mexico and North Carolina. She finished high school in 1951 and wrote to him during his years with the USAF.

Cornell came home to his love and they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 21, 1952. They moved into a little apartment and soon welcomed their first child. A few years later they moved into their home in Bountiful where Cornell worked at Bountiful Lumber. Their household grew with more children as he started his career at Flying J Refinery and Joyce held many callings in the Primary. They donated a lot of their time creating scenery and props for road shows, attending ball games, and helping kids with home-

work. As their family grew to an even dozen children their house was filled with babies, toys, noise, and fun.

Their children grew and soon the house was filled with the laughter of their grandchildren. Cornell retired from the refinery in 1995 after 35 years of service. Joyce continued with her callings in the church along with raising and spoiling her children and grandchildren. Retirement found Cornell puttering in his garage where he could explore his life long passion of carpentry by making bird and doll houses, gardening, and reading. Joyce spent her time crafting, writing poetry, and cooking up a storm. They were soon given a new calling at The Meadows Branch where they served for seven years as missionary and service representatives. Cornell and Joyce have loved to donate their time and help others throughout the years.

The children of Cornell and Joyce lovingly share their story as they celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They honored their parents with a family dinner where all 12 children and their spouses gathered. They have 22 grand-children (2 deceased) and 16 great-grandchildren (1 deceased).

Mom and Dad, we all want to thank for your unconditional love, wisdom, guidance, and support. You are an inspiration to us and we love you so much. Thank you so much for being a wonderful example of marriage and family.
