BOUNTIFUL – The South Davis Water District is considering a fee increase of $1.50 a month for culinary water for residential customers and about $2 a month for irrigation for an average-sized property.
The district will hold a public hearing concerning the increase on Wed., Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at 407 W. 3100 South in Bountiful.
The district, which covers Bountiful, parts of Davis County, North Salt Lake and Woods Cross, is hoping that the increase will bring in about $150,00 in additional funding. If it goes through, most of the increase would pay for capital improvements such as concrete liners on a reservoir and replacement of brass pipes, old water mains, service lines and fire hydrants, said District Manager Jake Ferguson.
The fee increase would bring bimonthly culinary water bills from $28 to $31.
“A lot of our water mains are undersized, just because they were built 60 years ago.” Ferguson said. “The system is just old С it just needs to be replaced.”
