FARMINGTON – An April 12 status conference was set for Stephanie Sloop last week after her attorney requested Stephanie Sloop’s preliminary hearing be set after Nathanael Sloop’s preliminary hearing is held in March.
Stephanie Sloop’s attorney Mary Corporon told 2nd District Judge Glen R. Dawson that her request comes “as a result of much strategic thinking, and with the consent of the prosecution.”
Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings told Dawson he understood Corporon’s request, adding, “It makes sense what she’s doing.”
Dawson then asked Stephanie Sloop if she wanted to waive her right to a speedy trial. She softly answered, “Yes, your honor.”
