FARMINGTON — During a presentation by Cindy Roybal before the Farmington City Council, she pointed out that the city had not had a woman on the sitting council for some time, and the final vote reflected an agreement with that fact.
Her remarks were part of an application to fill the seat of resigned councilman Nelson Michaelson.
After she and 19 other candidates spoke, councilmembers spent nearly an hour deliberating their difficult choice before unanimously voting in Roybal.
In speaking to the council, Roybal said that she has a passion for Farmington. She has served on the planning commission.
“My life has now come full circle,” she said. “I would love to serve Farmington again. As a mother, I believe I can bring a softer side to the council that hasn’t been represented for awhile”.
