BOUNTIFUL – Outstanding teachers who inspire their students have a chance at winning $1,000 for their school’s general fund in a program sponsored by CenturyLink, Inc. and the Utah Jazz.

The award program is seeking nominees for the All-Star Teacher Award, which will be presented monthly through March.

Winning teachers will receive two tickets to an upcoming Jazz game and an on-court award presentation during halftime. The person nominating the winning teacher will also receive two tickets to the Jazz game. Any individual 13 years or older can submit a nomination.

A grand prize winner will be selected from among the monthly winners and receive a $5,000 cash prize for their school, a catered suite for 12 and an on-court award presentation. In addition, Jazz Bear and the Nu Skin Jazz Dancers will be featured in a pep rally at the winning teacher’s school.

“In keeping with the Jazz’s commitment to giving back to the community, we are thrilled to partner with CenturyLink to honor Utah’s hard-working and deserving teachers,” said Randy Rigby, president of the Utah Jazz. “Through this program, we are looking forward to showcasing some of our state’s finest educators.”

The program is open to the entire state. To enter, students must write an essay detailing why their nominee deserves to win. More information is available at utahjazz.com/centurylink.
