BOUNTIFUL – The remaining All-Region teams were recently released by the coaches of Region 1 and Region 2 recently, and a handful of names from Viewmont and Davis high schools made the list.
In Region 1, Davis’ Jackson Peacock was voted as a co-MVP on defense, and four of his teammates also made the list as first team honorees. They are Kawika Tupuola, Gage Cook, Kyle Godderidge, and Chance Parker.
Peacock’s co-MVP vote came on the heels of a 118-tackle season, which led the team. Peacock also had 1.5 sacks and a single interception as a primarily defensive player.
Tupuola was an anchor on the defensive line for the Darts, leading the team in sacks with 7.5 while tying for fifth on the team in tackles with 53. Parker was right behind Tupuola with 46 tackles, and picked off opposing quarterbacks seven times while serving as a staple in the secondary.
Godderidge finished his season with 39 tackles, one sack and three interceptions. He finished tied form second in interceptions alongside Matt Morrell.
Gage Cook, the team’s quarterback in 2012, was an offensive cog for the Darts this season. The senior led the team in passing yards (1,807) and rushing yards (445), while combining to score 33 touchdowns both on the ground and through the air (21 passing, 12 rushing).
Region 1 also boasted locals voted overall MVP (Brock Anderson, Syracuse), offensive MVP (Davy Adams, Northridge) defensive co-MVP (Diante Mitchell, Syracuse) and special teams MVP (Kavika Fonua, Syracuse).
Other Region 1 first-teamers are Layton’s Marcus Kemp, Tyler Fox, Daviaire Dickerson and Zach Wilding, Northridge’s Zach Hayes, Dallin Isaacson, Eliya Mayberry, Dayan Lake, Keoni Dellermann and Darrin Alexander, and Syracuse’s Jacob Garver, Kaden Craig, Cardon Malon, Wyatt German, Mason Woodward, Koa Mo’o and Kiwa Mo’o.
From Viewmont, six Vikings players ended up representing the first team on the All-Region 2 list, with none of them making MVP honors.
Of the players listed on the first team are Brandon Wardell, Tylle Jones, Mitch Dalley, Tanner Obray, Paul Tesina and Mclayne Nichols.
Dalley had the most receiving touchdowns for the Vikings last season, helping the team reach the playoffs for the second year in a row from Region 2.
Both the Darts and the Vikings reached the playoffs, with Viewmont being eliminated in the first round by Syracuse and Davis dropping in the quarterfinals to Lone Peak by a single point.
