BOUNTIFUL – The world didn’t end last week, despite some interpretations of Mayan prophecies that said it would.
That didn’t stop two Bountiful brothers from making some cash on the prospect.
John and David Taylor stood at the corner of 500 South and Main Street on Thursday afternoon waving signs about the impending end of the world and selling pointed tinfoil hats to passersby.
“Protect yourself from the aliens,” said John Taylor. “They send signals. (With the hats), you don’t get them. They just bounce off.”
David Taylor was more animated than his sibling.
“Buy your tinfoil hats,” he shouted. “They’re not imported from China. Be prepared.”
Occasionally, the younger boy added the phrase “Live long and prosper.”
The brothers, homeschool students, made about $20 an hour from their impromptu venture.
Their mother, Susan Taylor, said their primary message was that the world could end tomorrow, so we should live for today.
