Barbara Joyce Hatch Horne

“Bobbe”

1934-2012

SYRACUSE—Barbara (Bobbie) Joyce Hatch Horne, 78, departed this mortal existence on Friday, December 28, 2012. She was born in Layton, on May 19, 1934, the third child of Reed and Afton Corbridge Hatch. She married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence ‘Thad’ Horne, on June 19, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted wife for 60 years, and together they reared their four children: Mary Ellen (Don) Nance of Little Rock, AR; Brad (Lisa) Horne of Centerville, UT; Lorraine (Steven) Linford of Salt Lake City, UT; Ruby Rae Horne, Syracuse. They were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and her grandchildren will long remember family parties, delicious homemade rolls, caramel popcorn, and her yardstick threats.

Barbara was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, serving faithfully at ward and stake levels in Primary, Relief Society and as organist. She knew right from wrong and taught her children how to work. She was employed as a bank teller for many years, a horticulture lab technician, and a payroll specialist. She played the piano and organ with passion, and passed on a love and talent for music to her children.

Barbara faced many physical challenges. She was determined in everything she did and taught her family to persevere and endure. This amazing woman will be deeply missed. The lives of her children and grandchildren will forever be blessed by her example and love.

Barbara is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, Fern Briseno (Pacheco, CA), brother, Paul Hatch (Layton), and uncle, McRae Corbridge (Layton).

Funeral services were conducted at the Feathering Sands Ward in Layton, 752 N 3700 West, at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013. Friends visited at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Feathering Sands chapel from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
