BOUNTIFULThe Davis High School girls’ basketball team won a fourth-straight game Saturday.

The 46-41 victory improved the Lady Darts’ record to 6-4 in preseason play.

Meanwhile in Bountiful, the Viewmont Lady Vikings and Bountiful Lady Braves squared off in a cross-town rivalry game that ended with a 64-47 Vikings victory.

Davis’ four-game winning streak continued.

The Lady Darts beat the Bengals by a slim five points last Saturday.

It was a defensive game throughout. Davis held a slim 21-20 lead before falling behind 33-32 after the third quarter.

Jessica Richardson, Morgan Hartvigsen and Natalie Mecham led the team to victory.

Hartvigsen led all scorers with 16 points, including two 3-pointers, in the win. Mecham fell one rebound short of a double-double, scoring 11 points with nine rebounds, and Richardson added 12 points.

Davis’ four-game winning streak followed a disappointing 2-4 start to the season.

One preseason game remains.

Bountiful falls to Viewmont

The cross-town rivalry game between Bountiful and Viewmont started with a flurry of points. The teams combined to score 43 points in the first quarter alone.

The Lady Vikings kept up their scoring pace, but Bountiful lost ground in the second half.

Up only four points at the half, the Lady Vikings outscored Bountiful 30-17 in the second, thanks to a strong defensive effort by the Lady Vikings.

Viewmont scored 15 or more points in three of the four quarters, led by Caitlyn Larsen’s and Katie Toole’s 15 points each.

Four Viewmont players scored in double figures Saturday night.

Alongside Toole and Larsen, Tana Singley scored 10 points and Taya Adams added 12 points in the win.

Bountiful’s Tiana Dougher led all scorers with 23 points, and Kennedy Merrick added 10 points in the loss.

The Braves and Vikings have alternated wins and losses in their last four games.

Viewmont is 8-2 during preseason play, and Bountiful sits at 5-5.

Davis will return to the floor Thursday night against Mountain Crest on the road. Woods Cross will travel to Box Elder the same night.

After finishing preseason play on Wednesday night, the Lady Vikings will kick off Region 2 play with a road game against Taylorsville on Friday night.

Bountiful will take on Bonneville at home.
