FARMINGTON – A new program offering Federal Social Service Grant funds is in its first year in Davis County, and funds have been awarded to several Davis County nonprofit groups.
The Davis County Commission approved funding for:
Ґ The Pioneer Adult Rehabilitation Center, $25,000 to fund a full-time job coach to assist clients with fulfilling job assignments
Ґ National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Davis affiliate, $10,000 to fund a part-time mentor based at Davis Behavioral Health in Layton.
Ґ Safe Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter, $34,500 to fund a case worker who will interact with mothers and children at the shelter and provide outreach to community-based clients
Ґ Davis Behavioral Health, $18,200 for part-time person to instruct latchkey children in risk, hygiene and home safety
Ґ TURN Community Services, $15,000, for transportation of disabled clients to work and therapy sites
The TURN project is due to be approved by the commission next week, said Greg Johnson, Davis County Grants coordinator.
The county acts as the local sponsoring agency for this program and has received funding for the past several years.
