KAYSVILLE – David Milius, an assistant coach at Fairfield Junior High School, suddenly collapsed while coaching a basketball game on Monday, Jan. 7.
Milius, who was hired by the head coach before the season started, was only in his second game coaching the Falcons.
His collapsed during the game against Sunset Junior High School.
After being rushed to the hospital by ambulance to a local hospital, he died.
“From what I’ve heard from around the area, he was a great individual who was always willing to help,” said Chris Williams, Community Relations Director for the Davis School District. “He served part time at Northridge High School as a special education teacher and had a great attitude towards all his students and everyone around him.”
He had been at Northridge since September 2010, according to Williams. He was 65 years old.
Counselors have been called to Fairfield and Sunset junior high schools, as well as Northridge High School, to assist any students or faculty members in need.
Officials at both Fairfield Junior High and Northridge High School declined to comment. Funeral arrangements were still pending as of press time.
