BOUNTIFUL – Forza Futbol Club, headquartered in Bountiful, has signed a partnership agreement with the Sheffield Futbol Club, a Champions League professional soccer club located in England.
The partnership, which is the first of its kind for a local club, which announced it online.
It has local players and coaches very excited.
“I’m very excited to have this professional affiliation with Sheffield Wednesday,” said Dave Newman, director of coaching for Forza and Woods Cross girls’ soccer coach. “This is going to provide a lot of great opportunities for our players, and we’re one of only seven other clubs to have been selected by the club.”
Sheffield Wednesday was established in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England in 1867, making it the fifth-oldest professional club in the English league.
As part of the partnership, Forza and Sheffield Wednesday will create an annual identification program that will allow Forza players an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Sheffield Wednesday’s academy coaches. Players identified through the academy will get the chance to travel to England in order to further their soccer prowess.
