BOUNTIFUL — The Clearfield Falcons scored 208.5 points last weekend to win the Rockwell Invitational Wrestling Tournament, beating out Sky View by 15 points.

The hosting Bountiful Braves finished fifth and cross-town rival Woods Cross was eighth out of a total of 23 teams.

The Falcons had a trio of wrestlers win their respective weight classes during the two-day affair.

Logan Swallow (106 pounds) beat Bryson Balls of Mountain Crest in order to win the lightest weight class, and Christian Kodele beat another Mountain Crest wrestler, Karther Knight, in the finals of the 113-pound weight class.

Clearfield didn’t have another winner until the 220-pound bracket, where Dakota Wickel beat out Mason Newton of Woods Cross in the finals.

Bountiful had three wrestlers in the finals for Saturday’s matches, but only one of them took home an individual title.

At the 132 pound final, Justin Horsely won an 8-3 decision over Logan’s Logan Harrison. Horsley was the Braves’ lone individual title holder.

At the 120-pound final, Brad Dyer lost to Eric Hansen in the finals via pin to finish in second place.

Barnett lost to Carmen Schwab of Mountain Crest to finish second in the 138-pound class.

For Woods Cross, Davis Halls, Sam Cottom and Newton each finished in the top two in their respective weight classes.

Cottom took home an individual title at the 195-pound bracket when he took down Kyle Sorenson of Skyline in a hard-fought 2-1 decision.

Halls fell in the finals of the 126-pound class, dropping a major decision 11-3 to Israel Herrera of Sky View.

The Vikings, who sent mostly junior varsity wrestlers to the tournament, finished ninth with 67 points and had five grapplers finish in the top six.

The tournament was put together by Bountiful staffers with the help of the Rockwell company in Woods Cross. It was intentionally scheduled near region tournaments.
