Holly not trustworthy

Editor,

It seems that we all have been complaining about our ‘dirty air’ problem. Are we doing anything about it? Right now, the air we breathe is being polluted by Holly Refinery. Right now, they are in the process of preparing to double their production. They say that in doing this, they will improve our air quality. Huh??

If they want to double production, why don’t they show us they can be trusted by improving the air quality first? Holly has not been honest in the past, so why are they being trusted to be honest in the future? Some advocates of the refinery say that they contribute to our community. I think a few thousand dollars to the elementary school in the area, and fireworks for the 4th of July celebration are no more than ‘lunch money’ to a corporation the size of Holly.

If they truly want to contribute to a better life, why don’t they dig into their very deep pockets, and fund a new wing on the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, or donate a million dollars to cancer research? We are going to need it. Thanks.

Sharon Stanger,

North Salt Lake
