BOUNTIFUL – Despite a key missing piece on the floor Friday night against Woods Cross, the Bountiful Lady Braves girls’ basketball team didn’t miss a beat.

With Kennedy Merrick injured and on the sidelines, Tiana Dougher scored 13 points and Jenny Skedros scored 10 points. The Lady Braves shut down the Wildcats 59-42 to pick up their third win in the last four games.

After building a 15-7 lead after the first quarter, Bountiful’s defense held Woods Cross scoreless for nearly the entire second quarter, building a lead that expanded from eight to 25 points by halftime. While the Braves were holding Woods Cross scoreless, the entire squad took part in what eventually became a 13-0 run through the first six minutes of the second quarter.

Woods Cross’ only points were scored with 25 seconds remaining in the first half, a two-point bucket by Gaby Ocejo, before the half ended.

Woods Cross’ offense started scoring more to start the second half as Eden Jacobsen, and Aubree Riddle combined to score nine of Woods Cross’ 15 third-quarter points, but still trailed by 22 points entering the final quarter.

Woods Cross began the quarter on a 7-2 run after Riddle, Halle Smith and Camille Horrocks each scored buckets to close the scoring gap.

Davis bounced back to score 18 points in the final quarter to pick up the win.

Natalie Mecham led Davis with a team-high 16 points, and Jessica Richardson scored 14 in the win. Sydnee Acord scored a game-high 21 points for the Lady Knights in the loss.
