South end semi-finals set for Feb. 19
LAYTON — The Davis Clipper/Utah Islander Spelling Bee semi-finals start this week on the north end at Layton High School.
The Bee, for winners from each north-end participating elementary school and junior high participants, will begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.
Spellers should study the lists posted on this site, but also general principles of spelling. Three rounds of the bee will use words from the list, then the fourth round and any rounds that follow will use words not from the list.
About 15 spellers will move on to the final round.
On Tuesday, Feb. 19 the semi-final bee for the south-end schools will take place at 7 p.m. at Bountiful High School. It will start at 7 p.m., following 6:30 p.m. registration.
The Final bee will be March 21, and the Bountiful Rotary club will provide prizes to the winning students in addition to the scholarship funds already set aside.
