FARMINGTON — Davis School District is inviting the Davis County community to take part in its second-annual Read-A-Thon.
All it takes to participate is an hour and a book.
The program got its start as part of the district’s centennial celebration last year when students, teachers, administrators and support staff, together with members of the community, logged 4.2 million pages of reading in one day.
March 1 was selected for this year’s Read-A-Thon in honor of Dr. Seuss Day.
Community members who participate are asked to read for an hour, then report the number of pages they read to Belinda Kuck, Davis Reads chair, at bkuck@dsdmail.net.
“I hope the Read-A-Thon accomplishes the same goal we have wtih Davis Reads Р to demonstrate that reading is central to Davis School District’s mission statement of ‘Learning First!’” said Kuck in a press release. “Reading is so important we’ve set aside an entire day to celebrate it.”
