LAYTON — He became America’s Choice, but not the champion.
Layton resident Jackson Carter, a contestant on this season of “Biggest Loser,” won last week’s voting and was allowed to compete in Monday night’s finale. He finished in third place.
Carter, who is the show’s first openly gay contestant, lost 138 pounds by the end of the contest, which amounted to 42.07 percent of his body weight.
“He really just tried out for the show on a lark,” said Marian Edmonds, executive director of the OUTreach Resource Center in Ogden. Jackson has volunteered there for the last five years.
The winner of this year’s “Biggest Loser” competition was Danni Allen, who lost 121 pounds and 46.9 percent of her initial body weight.
