Call Herbert in support of Constitutional Carry law

As a sociologist, it has been an easy observation that all reporting and claim-making by KSL TV and KSL’s  Doug Wright show demonstrates a flagrant attitude against HB76, which makes changes to Utah concealed carry gun laws. It passed both houses and awaits the governor’s signature.

On March 15, Wright went off on his perception of why HB76 shouldn’t be passed, but his arguments were all based off assumptions. KSL is, after all, the same company that gave into Mayor Bloomberg of New York and pulled gun sales off I called Wright’s show on March 15. As a HB76 advocate, I was cut off by Wright several times.

I would like to go to KSL Radio and debate Wright about this HB76, about which he is just wrong. My view on HB76 is simple and common sense, and I hop Gov. Herbert hears me out. If a Utahn can carry a gun in the open with no permit, then the same 2nd Amendment rights should be shared with concealed carry.

I have utilized college research on Constitutional Carry. Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead and the Wyoming Legislature passed a Constitutional Carry bill in 2011. This allows all state residents of six months or more to carry concealed and open with no permit! Wyoming has seen no increase in crime or negative push back from law enforcement or businesses, as Wright assumed would happen here.

Gov. Herbert has a chance to “level the playing field” as he likes to often say, and he can do so by signing into law HB76 to allow concealed carriers the same rights as the open gun carriers, to carry with no permit! That would uphold the 2nd Amendment rights that Sen. Lee and I stand for. If you respect the Constitution and think it’s about time we allow concealed carry with no permit like we currently do with open carry, call Herbert at 801-538-1000 and tell him to sign HB76 into law. The people have spoken!
